Together, we provided quality education for more than 500,000 children in Jordan, Lebanon and Turkey; improved service delivery and contributed to the well-being of Rohingya refugee children in Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh; and helped fight malnutrition in the Sahel region of western Africa. We've also worked to strengthen universal birth registration in Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Uganda and Zambia.
In 2019, the EU and UNICEF joined forces to strengthen the monitoring and implementation of the Convention on the Rights of the Child365体育娱乐官网. The European Parliament adopted a resolution calling on the Commission to create a comprehensive child rights strategy with a dedicated budget and child marker.
Together with the Group of Latin American and Caribbean Countries (GRULAC) and Members of the Group of Friends of Children and the SDGs, the EU led Protect Our Children365体育娱乐官网, an initiative to support the UN Secretary-General’s call for countries to prioritize children’s education, food, health and safety during the COVID-19 pandemic.
